Last Friday night my girlfriend and I stopped for drinks at Oyamel, a Jose Andres restaurant. We noticed lots of secret service all over the place but didn't dwell on them since this is DC after all--and we were pretty intent on sipping our margaritas. Between taco bites a bit of excitement took hold. Next thing I know I'm hitting my friend saying, "Look! Jose Andres!" breathless while she is gasping, "Look! Michelle Obama!!" It was a fantastic DC moment. One celebrity chef and one First Lady. The celeb chef posed with me for a photo: the first lady was barricaded in a private room, her guards blocking any view and requesting "Respect for the First Lady on her private night out with friends". I'm down with that. I did notice a tray of margartias going in the room. Nothing says girls night out like tequila and a lime. Hope she liked the tacos.
