"Down in New Orleans
Where the blues was born...
It takes a cool cat
To blow a horn...
On LaSalle and Rampart Street
The combo's there with a mambo beat...
The Mardi Gras, mambo, mambo, mambo
Party Gras, pambo, mambo, mambo
Mardi Gras, mambo-ooh
Down in New Orleans! "
Spirits were high for my latest photo shoot with Little Miss you know who. Yes, yes, I know during my Pirate Booty photo shoot I swore off ever working with this team of wannabe designer, super baby model, and high anxiety mother but the Pat O'Brien Hurricanes got to me...
Not to mention this volley of Who Dat:
"Who Dat?"
"Who Dat?"
"Who Dat Say Dey Gonna Beat Dem Saints?"
Who am I to deny a Saints fan and the Super Bowl Champs?

The Mardi Gras Mambo Fleur de Lis Dress was made using the Sienna Dress pattern from Lil Blue Boo. Black and gold were the colors I was going for so 1 black t-shirt and 1 H&M yellow and white floral jersey skirt (I'm so happy H&M is in the US, it was one of my favorite shops in Italy) were sacrificed. Right now, Ashley of LBB is hosting a design challenge with Dharma Trading Company whereby you are to use one of her patterns and some other sort of embellishment. I went with a simple fleur de lis applique. I didn't want to clutter the dress too much with other design details since the sleeves were already pretty busy. Plus, this week's Mardi Gras celebrations are sure to load her up on gaudy beads!
*Ahem, there is one additional design note, The crazy Axl Rose headband was an embellishment added by the (some what bossy) model and is in no way representative of this designer but could be attributed to this Saints fan. Thank you.

And while I was reading, I said to myself 'l-o-v-e the hair dressing!' It so adds to the WHO DAT mode of the day. Cute! mt
